Thursday 5th March 2020 was a beautiful sunny Spring morning in Tuamgraney and a group of students from the University of Limerick visited Clareville House, where they were entertained by Teresa with Tea/Coffee & Fresh Scones, as she outlined her history and experiences in the B & B business.
They were a multi cultural group, with students from USA, Malaysia, India, China, Cuba, Romania and of course Ireland.!!!
They are completing their MA in International Tourism Studies and were led by their Lecturer, Mary Wallace, Kemmy Business School, UL and Trip Co-Ordinator, Niall Heenan.
They also visited St Cronan’s 10thC Church,Tuamgraney, where they were given a guided tour by Derek from Clare Day Tours and they entered through the same doorway that Brian Boru would have walked through all those years ago!!!.
St Cronan’s is one of Ireland’s most historic buildings and is the only preserved building with a recorded link to Brian Boru – High King of Ireland from 1002 until his death at the Battle of Clontarf in 1014. It’s also the oldest church in continuous use in Ireland & the UK, with a Church of Ireland service held on the 4th Sunday of every month.
They really enjoyed their short visit and vowed to return and check out all that East Clare has to offer.
Clareville House, Clare Day Tours and St Cronan’s Church are well worth a visit.!!!
